Tours and Activities

Wednesday 12th June 2024 - 2pm to 5pm. 

Tour of the Diamond Building: Join us for a one-hour tour of the educational offerings in the University of Sheffield's state-of-the-art education building, home to some of the best equipment, laboratories, and study spaces in the university. The tour will showcase a variety of laboratories and workshops designed to support a wide range of engineering disciplines, the iForge student-led maker space, and the Faculty's multidisciplinary approach to practical engineering education. 

Experiments in The Structures Lab: A series of interactive experiments to demonstrate innovation in laboratory teaching. These will include a gamified make-and-break challenge, an extended reality (XR) interactive experience, and the use of photoelastic visualisation - no prior structural engineering knowledge is needed!


Friday 14th June 2024

2pm Tour of the Epitaxy Centre: The Facility is a consortium between the Universities of Sheffield, Cambridge and University College London and is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council as part of a network of National Research Centres. It provides a range of high-quality bespoke epitaxial wafers and devices that underpin world-class semiconductor research to UK academics and industrial customers, and to support the impact of this research in the scientific and industrial strategy of the Nation.

3pm Royce Translational Centre: Royce at the University of Sheffield is equipped with two state-of-the-art facilities to assist in the acceleration of university and industry ideas through to an industry production scale in order to meet global challenges.
